C.S.C.T.

The C.S.C.T. is accredited with the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and affiliated with the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (C.C.C.). The C.S.C.T. is a non-profit organization established to raise the standard of practice level of competence and the quality of patient care in Canada. A self-governing body, the C.S.C.T. admits and revokes membership in the Society. All members must maintain and upgrade professional standards by participating in a Continuing Education Program. With technology advancing so rapidly, the C.S.C.T. is working to preserve and improve national professional standards and practical competencies in the field of cardiac testing. Today we have over 1,200 student/associate and registered members in Canada. Members may be employed in the field of cardiology by assisting and performing duties in:

  • Electrocardiography
  • Exercise Tolerance Testing
  • Ambulatory Monitoring
  • Pacemaker Technology
  • Cardiac Ultrasound
  • Invasive Cardiac Procedures

C.S.C.T. Mission Statement

The mission of the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists is to provide the current and ongoing education for members and students and as a governing body, to guarantee a standard of excellence in the practice of Cardiology Technology within Canada.

Provincial Association/Student Prerequisites

Candidates must comply fully with one of the following requirements.

  1. Enrolled in a C.S.C.T. approved program. (Please see the C.S.C.T. website for a list of approved schools).
  2. After successful completion of an approved program, the student must then apply to C.S.C.T. for the National Registration Program.
  3. Submit membership fees to A.S.R.C.T. registrar.

NOTE: Application to the A.S.R.C.T. for Associate/Student status is APPROVED ONLY when all requirements have been met.

Specialty Examination Criteria

There are 3 Specialty exams available:

  • Treadmill Exercise Tolerance Testing
  • Pacemaker Technology
  • Ambulatory Monitoring (Currently pending national approval)

Examination Information

There are two times a year to write the C.S.C.T. examination: the last Sunday of April and the last Saturday of September.
